Council approves $200K grant for water infrastructure upgrades

PA CARLISLE — Carlisle approves $200,000 water grant and PennDOT utility coordination agreement. Deputy Mayor Perry led the Borough Council workshop where councilors unanimously voted 5-0 to authorize the Deputy Mayor to execute a Cumberland County Clean Water Program Block Grant Agreement providing $200,000 for the Orange Street Basin Retrofit project. A companion 5-0 vote authorized a PennDOT Utility Reimbursement Agreement for manhole and water valve adjustments during East High Street and York Road resurfacing.
Water Resources Operations Manager Corey Flythe presented data showing the Borough addressed more water main breaks in the recent snowstorm period than typically occur annually, reflecting aging infrastructure challenges.
