Parks board votes to separate tree removal cases, offers replanting or fine option

PA CARLISLE — Parks and Recreation Board hears tree removal case, votes to offer Safe Harbour options. The board voted unanimously in a Shade Tree Commission hearing to allow Safe Harbour Inc. to choose between replanting a tree at 134 N. Pitt Street at no cost or declining to replant, filling the tree well, and paying a fine.
The tree was removed by BSM Landscaping, which Safe Harbour hired to address utility line issues but mistakenly also cut down a second tree at 132 N. Pitt Street owned by Shannon Underwood. Director Andrea Crouse and her staff received an Excellence in Parks and Recreation Award at the state conference for the Carlisle Skate Spot mural.
